At the first Council meeting following the AGM on 15th March Mrs Sheila Brooks was elected Chairman of the National Pony Society.
Sheila spent much of her childhood in the Scottish Borders on ponies, and fittingly for the new Chairman says, "I just lived on my pony". After her marriage Sheila owned her first Highland pony, Ruth of Knocknagael. Since then she has been a breeder of good riding ponies.
Sheila was elected to the Highland Pony Society Council in 1978 and was President in 2001/2. She was elected Chairman of the Scottish Equine Breeders Association in 2007 and as such is also a director of the Scottish Equine Association.
In 2005 Sheila was elected to the NPS Council for a year as a replacement for a member who had resigned, and in 2006 she was re-elected for a full three year term.
