Overstamping of existing passports
If your pony already has a breed society passport but is eligible for entry in the British Riding Pony Stud Book then the NPS will register the pony and overstamp the existing passport.
You may wish to do this if
- You have a part bred Mountain and Moorland pony that, if registered in the British Riding Pony Stud Book, would be eligible for NPS Show Pony and Show Hunter Pony classes
- You wish to breed from the pony and register its offspring in the British Riding Pony Stud Book
As well as part bred Mountain and Moorland ponies the NPS can register and overstamp the passports of part bred Arabs. The NPS can't register and overstamp the passports of pure bred Mountain and Moorland ponies and anyway there is no benefit to the owners from doing this.
If you would like the NPS to register your pony and overstamp its existing passport you should follow a procedure fsimilar to that for registration of a British Riding Pony and complete the Overstamping Application form which is a resource at the foot of this page. Please use the Overstamping Guidelines document, which is also a resource at the foot of this page, to help you complete the form.
Prefixes - When registering a pony and overstamping a Breed Society passport please note that any prefix that is used must be extended for use with the NPS. Please see additional details under the Prefixes section of this website.
Markings Diagram - Please note that you do not need to complete the markings diagram as there is one already in the existing passport.
However, all other aspects must be in line with a new registration:
-
The Prefix must be valid for use with the NPS
-
The breeder must sign the breeder part of the form
-
A service certificate must be provided
-
The passport must show the pony as being in the correct ownership
The fee for registration and overstamping is £20 for NPS Breeder members and £25 for others.
