Non-registered Equine Passports

Eligibility - The NPS issues Non-registered Equine Passports (pink covers) for ponies (Fillies, Mares and Geldings) 15hh or under which are not eligible for registration in the British Riding Pony Stud Book or in the Stud Book of a registered Native Breed Society. Colts are not eligible for Non-registered passports until gelded.

Showing - Ponies with Non-registered passports are not eligible for entry in NPS classes. However, they may be shown with the British Show Pony Society, Ponies Association (UK) or the British Show Hack, Cob & Riding Horse Association, provided that the pony fulfils those Societies' own showing regulations

How to apply for a Non-registered passport

  • Use the Non-Reg Application form which is a resource at the foot of this page.
  • Complete the form in capital letters and black ink
  • Print off the guidelines for completion of description and markings diagrams which is also a resource. Give this to the vet who is doing the diagram for you.
  • If the pony is a gelding make sure the vet signs the certificate of castration
  • Send the completed and signed form with the fee to the NPS.

Fees for a Non-Registered Passport are:   Breeder Members of the NPS - £20, others £25. Return of passport recorded delivery - £3.00
