Conditions for entry in NPS Shows and Affiliated Shows in Summer 2008

It is the status of the owner of the pony that matters, if you own several ponies you only pay one annual subscription, this covers all the ponies.

  • Qualifying rounds are open to both NPS Members and Non Members but only the highest placed NPS Member, on production of their membership card in the ring, will be eligible to qualify for the Final. Riders and handlers must have the owner's membership card in their possession on entering the ring. For the Winter qualifiers the owner of the pony doesn't have to be a member for the pony to qualify but must then become a showing member to enter the final at the Spring Festival.
  • NPS Adult/Standard members will be required to upgrade to Adult/Showing members to enter the finals held at the NPS Summer Show at Malvern.
  • Riders do not need to be members of the NPS unless they ride at Olympia in the final of the NPS/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Supreme Ridden (Olympia) Pony of the Year.
  • The NPS doesn't require an annual showing fee and ponies don't have to be added to an annual showing register. However, for most NPS Competitions ponies must hold Equine Passports and be registered in the Pure Bred section of their Breed Society Stud Book or the NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register or Appendix as appropriate to the classes in which they are entered.

Special conditions apply to the NPS/Baileys Horse Feeds M&M Supreme Ridden (Olympia) Pony Of The Year qualifiers, as follows:

  • Before entering open Qualifying Rounds owners must be Adult/Showing members of the NPS and must show their membership card before entering the ring (Breed Shows excepted).
  • At the final at Olympia Riders, both Junior and Adult riders, must also be members of the NPS.

Other Points

Adult/Showing Members pay reduced entry fees at the NPS Spring Festival and the NPS Summer Championship Show.

There are some 'fun' competitions for Juniors at the NPS Summer Championship show and Junior members pay reduced entry fees for these classes.

The NPS is no longer using Competition Record Cards.

Winter Qualifying Rounds

Owners and riders do not have to be members of the NPS to enter qualifying rounds for the NPS Winter Series and to qualify. However, the owners will need to be Adult/Showing members to enter the finals at the NPS Spring Festival.

Some winter shows hold qualifying rounds for the very popular NPS/TopSpec Mountain and Moorland Working Hunter Pony Royal International Horse Show (RIHS) Championship.

Some of these qualifying rounds are held early in the year and owners should take special note that they need to be members for their pony to qualify in these competitions. Therefore, they must have a membership card for the new year in order for their pony to qualify.
