THE NPS YOUNG JUDGE'S COMPETITION 2010

Kindly Sponsored by Lady Benton Jones, NPS Area 4,           Mrs Sandra Seward & Nixon Equestrian Vets

We are delighted to be holding the Young Judge's Competition again at the Summer Championship Show on Tuesday 3rd August 2010.

NPS Areas have been invited to nominate individuals to participate.  NPS Areas who choose to take part in the competition are requested to nominate four individuals (individuals must be between the ages 10 - 25 years old).  Individuals will be divided into four age categories

Competitors are required to attend a briefing at 3:30pm at Ring One for a prompt start at 4:00pm.  We will endeavour to put forward one of each M&M breed, one show pony and one show hunter pony all of which will be presented in hand.  After judging, competitors will then be interviewed where they will each in turn have a three minute interview with the assessor.  Competitors will be judged as individuals therefore there will be one individual winner for each of the four age categories, an overall winner of the competition plus the area with the most overall marks will be the winning NPS Area.

The results will be announced at the start of the Evening Performance on Wednesday 4th August.  All competitors taking part will receive a certificate.  The overall winner, winner of each age section and winning NPS Area will also receive medals which have been kindly sponsored by Sandra Seward.  Area 4 has kindly sponsored this year to cover the cost of the entry fees therefore no area will have to pay to compete.  The winning NPS Area will be awarded with £100.00 prize money.  The overall winner of the competition will also be awarded £100.00 prize money, judge the Cuddy with Mrs M Low on Friday 6th August and also be given the fantastic opportunity to accompany Jane Nixon MRCVS of Nixon Equine Vets on a BEF Futurity day.

We are incredibly grateful to Jane and everyone at Nixon Equine Vets for so generously giving this wonderful prize.   This is an opportunity for the winner to gain invaluable knowledge, and appreciate the commitment that goes into improving and developing the equine world.  We are also very grateful to all of our other kind sponsors.  With their help we can maintain the standard of the competition which is greatly enjoyed by the young competitors.

THE NPS YOUNG JUDGE'S COMPETITION 2009

The NPS Young Judges competition took place Tuesday 4th August at the Three Counties Showground and was enjoyed by 50 NPS members under the age of 26.  The aim of the competition is to encourage our younger members to learn more about the conformation and way of going of both the British Riding pony and the Mountain and Moorland Breeds.

Teams of young judges from across the country have been busy training over the last few months, and hopefully some of the young people involved will go on to become NPS judges in the future.

The NPS would like to thank the pony providers for their help, without which this competition would not be able to go ahead.  We would also like to express our thanks to the assessors, the area chairmen for nominating candidates the Judges committee for their assistance in running the competition and Jenny Seymour the Society president who kindly sponsored the competition this year.
