DUPLICATE PASSPORTS
A pony should only have one passport and one Unique Equine Life Number (UELN).
If an NPS Passport is lost the owner of the pony can apply for a duplicate to be issued.
Duplicate passports for Registered ponies cost ‚£60 for NPS Full Members and ‚£75for others.
Duplicate passports for non-registered ponies cost ‚£60.
The Duplicate Form can be found as a Resource at the foot of this page.
If the current owner of the pony is not the last owner recorded with the NPS then a Transfer of Ownership will also be required. Please see details under Passport Changes.
Ponies don't have to be microchipped in order for a duplicate passport to be issued provided the pony was formally identified and the original passport produced before the end of June 2009.
Passports to replace nps certificates
Some older ponies may still have an NPS Certificate of Registration and no passport. Owners of these ponies can apply for a passport in pace of the Certificate. The form can be found as a Resource at the foot of this page.
The pony must be microchipped before a passport can be issued.
The cost for a Passport in pace of a Certificate (PIC) is ‚£20 for everyone.
ANIMAL ID ONLY PASSPORTS
From July 2009 DEFRA has agreed that pony owners who have an 'ID Only' passport but who can prove the breeding or their pony can ask for the 'ID Only' passport to be rescinded. The owner should apply for the pony to be registered with the breed society, enclose the 'ID Only' passport and a letter requesting that that passport is rescinded. This will then be processed by the breed society in conjunction with the organisation that issued the 'ID Only' passport.
If the pony is eligible for registration, or has already been registered with the NPS, then the NPS should be able to issue a registration document, showing the pony's breeding and registration details, to go with the Animal ID passport.
Please contact the NPS Office.
